Eco-friendly Accommodation

At Aitken on Mulgrave we try to minimise our impact on the environment and our carbon footprint. Aitken on Mulgrave is a new building, built in 2003 to the latest building specifications. Every apartment is fully insulated against noise, fire and loss of energy. We use energy efficient appliances and long life eco light bulbs throughout, gas for water heating, environmentally friendly cleaning products, and we recycle.

Why do we do it?

We do it because with 48 apartments we can make a significant contribution to protecting our environment.

• Did you know that the energy saved by recycling one can could run a light bulb for 20 hours?
• Did you know that 13 recycled plastic bottles make enough fibrefill to stuff a ski jacket?
• Did you know that the total amount of waste going to landfills in the Wellington region this year would fill the stadium twice?

Each of our apartments has recycling bags for recyclable materials.
